Work. Kids. Relationships. Life. It can all be overwhelming. Especially when it feels like everything is in urgent mode at the same time. As moms, we’ve had to perfect the art of multi-tasking. We are known for putting the “S” on our chests and making magic happen. Still, it’s more than OK (and necessary) to drop the cape and breathe. Check out our ideas for taking a break and commit to doing a few of them today. Deal?

Go on a walk – In your neighborhood, at a park…

Go for a drive – Choose a scenic part of town and just cruise

Log off social media for one day – It’s hard, we’re addicted but do it for self cares’ sake

Dance – Dance party for one? Yes, please! Turn on your faves and move your body

Cook your favorite recipe or meal – For some people cooking is an escape

Call a loved one – It helps to talk to someone even if it’s just to vent

Eat ice cream – Take your time and enjoy a cup of a your favorite flavor

Watch something funny – There are so many comedies to stream (movies, TV shows, stand up)

Stretch – It just feels good

Text an old friend – Catch up – you may be just who they need to hear from

Make a cup of hot/iced coffee or tea – Always down for a good cuppa

Take an art class online – Even if it’s bad art… get creative

Watch the sunset – There’s so much peace in watching the sun go down

Send or buy yourself flowers – Because who doesn’t love fresh flowers

Write down 5 self affirmations – And repeat them

Read a book – Lose yourself in another world

Just be – Alone with your thoughts

Treat yourself to your favorite takeout and a movie – Date night in

Grab a snack– Stock up on your favorites and grab it when you want a treat

Stay in bed for another 15 minutes or half hour – Whatever you can get away with

Give yourself a manicure – A nice pop of color on your nails is an instant pick me up

Create a go to playlist – Something that makes you feel good like a chill lo-fi set

Look in the mirror – And appreciate what you see

Watch your favorite TV show – We just binged Greenleaf over here and loved it

Take a warm shower – Invite your favorite soaps and scrubs

Take an online yoga class – Restorative yoga is good to just relax

Sing – LOUD

Breathe – Taking a few deep breaths can do wonders to wind you down

Pour yourself a glass of wine – It’s a guaranteed way to relax

Write your goals down in a planner – Writing it down makes it real and it feels good to physically check things off your list

Create a go to, feel good playlist – Listen to the go to playlist you made

Take a hot bath – With your fave bath bomb, wine, book – whatever you need

Picnic – In your backyard or the park

Give yourself a facial – There’s no reason your melanin shouldn’t be popping

Read – Find a lighthearted and fun read for an escape

Take a nap – sometimes the best thing to do is just lay it down, sis

Doodle – A few squiggles on some paper can turn into some pretty creative, relaxing art

Color – Stock up on adult coloring books

Mediation – Find a guided meditation and release some stress

Take a nature walk – Go walking and bring your phone with you – to take pictures of what you see
